What is Page Rank?

Pagerank is the parameter which describes how important and reputed a page is on web. In short you can say PageRank is a “vote”, by all the other pages on the Web, about how significant a page is. Main support of pagerank is link provided to page. Google is also having same way of deciding page’s importance. It’s a method used by Google to determine a page’s relevance or importance. We will occasionally refer to PageRank as "PR". Higher the pagerank means higher the important of page e.g PR 6 site is more important then PR 2 site.

PageRank is also displayed on the toolbar of your browser if you’ve installed the Google toolbar ( from http://toolbar.google.com/). PR (green color line) is as show below in google toolbar.

Page rank is as show below on Google toolbar. But the Toolbar PageRank only goes from 0 – 10 and seems to be something like a logarithmic scale:

Toolbar PageRank
(log base 10)

Real PageRank

0

0 - 10

1

100 - 1,000

2

1,000 - 10,000

3

10,000 - 100,000

4

and so on...

How PR calculated?

Only Inbound links are the factor to calculate PR of any page. Where inbound link means links within that site and coming from outside the side; linking to that page. Here below is equation to calculate the PR of page “A”

PR(A) = (1-d) + d(PR(t1)/C(t1) + ... + PR(tn)/C(tn))

In the equation 't1 - tn' are pages linking to page A, 'C' is the number of outbound links that a page has and 'd' is a damping factor, usually set to 0.85.

What is Link campaign?

Link campaign is one of the way through which you can get visitors from another site. Not only the visitors, you can also improve ranking of your site. Mainly reciprocal link is the network of exchanging link, in which a site provide link to your site and in return your site also give link to that site. The simplest way of doing it is to email another website owner or webmaster and ask to do a link exchange. One-way linking in which you only get link from another site and doesn’t give link back to there site. Mainly you can get one-way linking by directory submission only.

Basic steps of Reciprocal linking

  • Create link pages on your site according to category wise; depending on the relevant category that matches to your site.
  • Search relevant site and create database of relevant sites
  • Place that searched sites on link pages
  • Now Send email to another website owner or webmaster and ask to do a link exchange.
  • If you get response then well and good else send them reminder after the gap of one week.
  • If you don’t get the response then delete that site from your link page

Things to remember while doing link exchange

  • Do link exchange with the relevant sites only. For e.g. if you have software development site then approach to only relevant sites like software, web-designing websites, web hosting websites etc. but not to approach like Educational, health sites.
  • Avoided link exchange with the competitor sites.
  • Don’t provide more then one link to any site
  • Don’t put more then 30 links on any link page.
  • Don’t do link exchange with spam sites.
  • Find link partner those have better page rank than your site’s PR.
  • Check reciprocal link after the gap of 2 months.
  • Also check the PR and link after every Google updation.

What is PR and its writting rules?

In previous years, the only reason of issue to PR was to get media to write about you. PR was actually release to press. No-one saw the actual press release except the handful of editors or journalists. People know about PR content was if media wrote a story about it. Press release had to include quotes from others, such as customers, analysts and experts. And you must have important reason or news to publish your Press release.

Well, now no more all above stuff. The Web has transformed the old days PR rules, and you must transform your releases to make the most of the Web-enabled marketplace of ideas. The Web has changed the rules. People or Buyers read your press releases directly, and you need to be speaking their language. Now days, your viewers are millions of people with Internet connections and access to search engines.

Web based PR (Press Releases) Rules:

  • Just find a good reason to send the PR; don’t wait for “big news”.
  • Press Releases should include keyword-rich copy.
  • Provide links in PR thought which visitors or readers can divert to landing pages of your sites.
  • Write press releases that fulfill all requirements directly to your buyers.
  • Optimize press release for searching and browsing.
  • Drive people into the sales process with press releases.

What is Affiliate Marketing?

Internet marketing is an Affiliate market.

In simple language Affiliate means - To associate (oneself) as a subordinate and
Marketing means - A public gathering held for buying and selling merchandise.

For Internet marketing affiliated market is the system in which your affiliate diverts traffic (visitors) to your website. Where Affiliate - meant to another website that has been accepted by you as a member. In Affiliate marketing you pay your affiliates a commission for referring business to your site.

Note: You do not pay for advertising with their Affiliates – you only pay when a sale, lead, download, subscription or other desired action occurs.

How Affiliate Marketing works:

  • Affiliate (another site) drive visitors to your site through different method like links, banners etc.
  • Some of these visitors who come to your site take the desired action (buying or subscribing to your product/service). These visitors are being tracked.
  • For each successful transaction (e.g. sale or subscription), you pay your affiliate a pre-decided commission.
